1. Does the council currently operate any transport routes for which the destination falls outside of the council area in either of the following categories (YES/NO)

a) SEN Transport – YES

b) Home to School (all children transported to a destination outside of Thurrock) – YES

c) Taxi Services – YES (both categories above use taxi services to transport children)

d) Transport for Adult Care – No

2.  If yes - can the council state - for each category, how many individual journeys have been made to out-of-council destinations in this financial year to date (23-24). Please also supply the number of individual journeys broken down by the previous two financial years (22-23 and 21-22)

a) SEN Transport – 112 (2024); 95 (2023)

b) Home to School (all children transported to a destination outside of Thurrock) – 125 (2024); 112 (2023)

c) Taxi Services – 105 (2024); 99 (2023)

*Please note we are unable to provide this information for the financial year 21-22. We are also unable to provide the number of individual journeys as there are many variables i.e. school term dates, inset days and children on different timetables travelling twice a week, three times a week and some daily. Therefore, we have provided the number of children against these categories. The figures provide are based on data from March 2024 and March 2023; this is a snapshot from these months, not the whole financial year.
