Planning Applications
On Tuesday 25 July 2023 in response to FOI request 13005, Thurrock Council stated "Planning application 22/001131/HHA (Demolition of the rear extension and balcony structure and retention of the outbuilding) was refused on 8 November 2022. The planning case officer has been continuing to deal with this site since that refusal and it is anticipated that further action will be taken soon."
It is now Monday 25 March 2024 and no sign of the further action anticipated stated in the response as the refused structure is still in place.
Can Thurrock Council share with the public that took part in the planning application process, what the outcome will be if no enforcement action is taken within the period of 4 years since refusal?
Are the current administration sticking to form and just simply "kicking the can down the road" for a future administration to have to deal with?
There is an existing Enforcement case open at the site.
The Council served an Enforcement Notice (EN) on 26th Sept 2023, which became effective 24th October 2023 relating to the removal of the outbuilding.
The EN states 6 months meaning they have until 24th April 2024 to comply with all of the steps required. They have not appealed the EN.
The Council’s Planning Enforcement team would normally check for EN compliance on or by 24th April.
