Publication date:

Request:

1. Please can you clarify the demand your respective authority area has at current or in the near future for: single homeless, low support need, supported housing services.

2. Please also clarify if you have at present, a process or procedure to enable new providers to register interest in partnership working as a supplier of this accommodation.

3. Please detail this process or procedure?

Response:

1. Single homeless – The Council has received 584 approaches since 1st April 2024 from single homeless individuals.  Specifically within this cohort are over 200 such individuals who are between the ages of 18 and 35, and they receive lower benefit entitlements, which can make rehousing them more problematic due to affordability issues.  Given this, and the ongoing housing crisis, the Council has a need for support in providing around 400 single units into which single person households can have their homelessness duties discharged over the course of a year.

Care Leavers/NRPF - aged 16-18, 13.8% (39) are in supported accommodation, current total is 282 soon to be care leavers or care leavers and a proportion of these are also NRPF, or part of an NRPF household.
