Freedom of information response
Validity Of Freedom Of Information Response
As of July 16 2024 there is a growing concern and suspicion that the response giving in regard to FOI request 13946, is either innacurate, misleading or entirely false. So the question that has to be asked is, since the public have been given access to Freedom Of Information, how many occasions have therebeen when responses have been found to be a) Innacurate, b) Misleading, C) Dishonest or a combination of all 3. And when found to be either a,b, or c, what action has been taken and/or likely to be taken by Thurrock Council.
The information provided in reponse to FOI 13946 was accurate at the time it was provided. Unfortunately Thurrock Council are unable to provide in full the information you have requested in this FOI request because we do not record it in the way you have asked.
Any responses to FOI requests that are challenged by requesters are done so through an Internal Review process. The number of FOI requests that were escalated to an internal review for 2023-2024 was 23, of those 23 only 6 were upheld. An upheld internal review can be because the requester was unhappy with our reply as our reply was late, our reply was not interpreted in the way the requester intended, our reply wrong or the requester challenged our use of an exemption. The action taken when an Internal Review is requested is that an independent manager carries out a review of the request, and challenges the reply reply given, then provides a new reply, if data is found to be inaccuate, it will be rectified and a new reply issued along with an apology.
