Thurrock Museum awarded funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to bring communities together and celebrate Thurrock’s heritage

Thurrock Museum has been awarded more than £140,000 to boost the care and understanding of its collections, by working with Thurrock’s diverse and new communities to explore the borough’s heritage and strengthen work-related skills.
The museum service, provided by Thurrock Council, will receive £144,531 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for its new Routes to Roots: Sharing Thurrock’s Heritage with Communities New and Old project.

Have you spotted the Start Thurrock D-Day bus?

You might have seen the special D-Day Start Thurrock bus, wrapped with the winning entries from the recent Thurrock Museum D-Day art competition around Thurrock.
The bus is on the 44, 73 and 83 routes, driving from Lakeside to Grays, Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary and is part of our D-Day 80th anniversary commemorations.
