Have your say on London Gateway Local Development Order Two

26 September 2024

Residents and businesses are being invited to have their say on a new Local Development Order (LDO) which will help unlock growth by clearing the way for the development of the London Gateway Logistics Park.

An LDO simplifies the planning process by removing the need for developers to obtain planning permission for certain developments within a specific area. It will streamline the planning process for the site and help attracts inward investment.

The original LDO for this site was granted in 2013 and expired in November 2023. It was replaced with a LDO 1.5 in March 2024, which allowed work at the site to continue uninterrupted.

London Gateway LDO 2 grants permission for up the development of up to 733,776sqm of commercial floorspace in total. Of this 412, 326 sqm has already been completed or committed under LDO1 and 1.5, meaning there is 321,450sqm remaining to be consented.

Cllr Lee Watson, Cabinet member for Good Growth, said: “This Local Development Order will help attract investment, local job creation and other economic benefits by removing red tape that could otherwise get in the way, or create uncertainty for potential investors.

“We are now at the stage of consulting on this and I would like to invite everyone to have their say on these proposals.”

Residents can view the proposed Local Development Order and supporting documents, and find out how to submit their feedback on the Draft Local Development Order 2025 webpage.
