There is still time for residents to have their say on the planning application for the first stage of work to rejuvenate the Grays Riverside area, the planning application is open for comments until Monday 4 November.
A public consultation on proposals developed by the Grays Town Board and Thurrock Council which will open up the riverfront and make it more accessible by creating a new footpath linking Kilverts Field and Grays Beach Riverside Park and adding new seating areas have shown that residents support the scheme.
Planning permission for the first phase of the plans has been submitted. The work that takes place in phase one will create a new path and raise flood defences along the river along with landscaping work.
The proposals for phase one also lay the groundwork for future development to further enhance the riverfront as the Grays Town Deal (Riverside) programme progress.
Cllr Lee Watson, Cabinet member for Good Growth, said: “We were pleased to see such support for these proposals. They are an exciting first step in regenerating Grays by opening up the riverfront.
“We also received a lot of useful feedback about the kind of amenities residents want to see on an improved Grays riverside, including leisure and play facilities for families, and these will be reflected in planning for phase two of the works that will take place.”
Planning proposals for the first phase of works have been submitted, they can be found on our planning portal.
