Following feedback from residents, waste crews will begin collecting recycling side waste when they carry out recycling collections.
Residents will be able to leave a clear or white bag of recycling and large flattened boxes next to their blue bin on their scheduled collection day and crews will take them as part of the fortnightly recycling collection.
Cllr Andrew Jefferies, Leader of Thurrock Council and Cabinet member for Environment, said: "Residents have told us that they are having problems fitting all their recycling in the blue wheelie bin. We have listened and taken action, so from Monday 11Â September we will collect additional recycling side waste.
"Our waste crews work tremendously hard, collecting thousands of tonnes of waste from tens of thousands of homes every week, so all we ask is you help them by making sure that additional recycling is in a clear or white bag next to the bin and large cardboard boxes are folded flat and leant against your blue bin.
"We want to make sure that as much of the borough’s waste is recycled as possible, by introducing this side waste collection we are making sure that our residents have every opportunity to recycle."
