Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

Brentwood Road and Orsett Cock Roundabout, Chadwell-St-Mary and Orsett

1) Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under sections 1, 2, 4, 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the 1984 Act”) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, intends to make the above named Order (“the Proposed Order”).

2) The general effect of the Order would be:

  1. To revoke the existing 50mph speed limit restriction at the location(s) specified below:
    1. In both directions from the southern arm of the Orsett Cock Roundabout in a southerly direction to a point 196m north-east of the junction of Brentwood Road/Sleepers Farm Road.
  1. To implement a 30mph Speed Limit restriction at the location(s) specified below:
  1. In both directions from the southern arm of the Orsett Cock Roundabout in a southerly direction to a point 15m south of the southern kerb-line of Welling Road, Orsett.
  1. To implement a 40mph Speed Limit restriction at the location(s) specified below:
  1. In both directions from a point 15m south of the southern kerb line of Welling Road, Orsett in a southerly direction to a point 196m north-east of the junction of Brentwood Road/Sleepers Farm Road.
  1. To revoke the existing 50mph Speed Limit restriction at the location(s) specified below:
  1. The circulatory area of the Orsett Cock Roundabout.

3) A copy of the Proposed Order together with the plans can be viewed on Thurrock Council’s website at thurrock.gov.uk/publicnotices. Alternatively, the proposals can be viewed by appointment during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm) by contacting the Transport Delivery Team via [email protected].  Those who are unable to use email can phone 01375 652652.

4) Any support/objection to the Proposed Order must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made and sent to the following address Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or sent via email to [email protected] to arrive on or before 26th December 2024. Any comments may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
