Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order

Horndon on the Hill Feast and Fayre
Whereas application has been made to the Borough Council of Thurrock for the temporary closure of the roads described below on the occasion of the Horndon on the Hill Feast and Fayre on Saturday 29 June 2024 and Sunday 30 June 2024 as the roads are likely to be thronged or liable to be obstructed.
And whereas the said Borough Council is satisfied that the closure of the highways so described is necessary as the ordinary day to day use of the highway is likely to be obstructed or dislocated by a substantial number of persons.
And whereas the Police have raised no objection to the making of this Order provided that appropriate arrangements are made to exclude vehicles from the road affected by this Order other than those vehicles associated with the event.
Now therefore the Borough Council of Thurrock in pursuance of the powers conferred by Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 and of all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:
1. High Road between its junction with Orsett Road and its junction with Hillcrest Road and Mill Lane between its junction with High Road and its junction with Stephens Crescent shall be temporarily closed
2. South Hill from its turnaround point, Pump Street, Hillcrest Road, Oxford Road, Robinson Road, Black Bush Lane, Orsett Road and Gordon Road shall be temporarily closed in order to facilitate the Horndon 10k Run – the actual route will be Pump Street, South Hill, High Road, Hillcrest Road, Oxford Road, Robinson Road, Black Bush Lane, Orsett Road, Gordon Road, Oxford Road, Robinson Road, Black Bush Lane, Farm Track, Pump Street and South Hill
3. The Order will come into force for High Road and Mill Lane between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 29 June 2024 and Sunday 30 June 2024, and for the 10k Run shall be in force on Sunday 30 June 2024 starting at 11am and closed for sufficient time to allow the runners to run pass through the route
