Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

London Road, Purfleet on Thames

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock is satisfied that it is necessary to restrict or prohibit traffic in the above road without delay because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road.

2 The Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has therefore made the following Notice:

Prohibit any vehicles from travelling along London Road from a point approx 95m east of Purfleet Level Crossing, for a distance of approx 55m in an easterly direction. Temporarily revoke the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on Tank Hill Road

3. The purpose of the Notice is to enable essex and Suffolk Water to carry out urgent repairs to their apparatus.

4. The alternative route for westbound vehicles will be London Road eastbound, Stonehouse Corner Roundabout, Purfleet Bypass, Arterial Road, New Tank Hill Road, Tank Hill Road, High Street, and vice versa for eastbound vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents. Vehicles exiting Botany Way will be travelling northbound via its junction with Botany Way roundabout.

5. The Notice comes into force immediately 14th January 2025 and will be valid for 21 days. It is however expected that he works will be completed by 17th January 2025. It will apply only on those days and during those times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
