Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic
(Stopping, Waiting, Loading And On-Street Parking) Order 2017 Amendment
1) Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under sections 1, 2, 4 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter referred to as “the 1984 Act”) and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the1984 Act, intends to make the above named Order (“the Proposed Order”).
2) The general effect of the Order would be to make the following variations to articles and definitions in “The Borough of Thurrock (Stopping, Waiting, Loading, and On Street Parking) Order 2017;-

- In article 3. (1) Interpretation after the definition “general prohibition” insert the definition of “goods” as below:
"goods" means objects too heavy or bulky to be carried very far by hand.

- In article 3. (1) Interpretation after the definition “lay-by” insert the definition of loading as below:
“loading” generally refers to commercial loading or to objects that are too heavy or bulky to be carried very far by hand,

- In article 15 “Exceptions to the General Prohibitions” replace the definition 15 (e) ”a taxi whilst at an official taxi rank”
With the following definition
“a taxi whilst at an official taxi rank and is occupied by the registered driver”
3) A copy of the Proposed Order together with the plans can be viewed on Thurrock Council’s website at thurrock.gov.uk/publicnotices. Alternatively the proposals can be viewed by appointment during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm) by contacting the Transport Delivery Team via [email protected]. 4) Any support/objection to the proposed order must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made and sent to the following address Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or sent via email to [email protected] to arrive on or before 23rd January 2025. Any comments may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
