How your rent is calculated
Rent is a weekly charge for your property. Before you sign a tenancy agreement for a council property we will tell you how much the total weekly charge will be.
We set rents at a level that meets the cost of providing housing services to our tenants. The income from rent is used to manage, repair and improve homes, and to provide community-based services for tenants.
We work out rent charges based on the value of each property. Rent levels are set each year and all tenants are sent a letter showing any increase to weekly charges. You will be given 28 days' notice of an annual increase.
You can login online to get your latest rent statement and check how much you must pay.
