Marriage or civil partnership registration
The following non-refundable fee applies:
- £42 – per person for an appointment to give a notice of marriage or civil partnership
Changes to initial registration
The following fees apply:
- £83 – consideration by the Registrar or Superintendent Registrar of a correction
- £99 – consideration by the Registrar General of a correction
Marriage or civil partnership certificates
You can order a certificate online.

Conversion of a civil partnership into marriage
At Thurrock Register Office, the following fee applies:
- £50 – conversion of a civil partnership into marriage, full process
At any other approved premises in Thurrock, the following fees apply:
- £30 – completing the declaration
- £101 – signing the declaration in a religious building registered for the marriage of same sex couples
We set the fee for signing the declaration on approved premises in Thurrock, or in Thurrock Register Office at a different time or a different place from where the declaration was completed.
Divorce and civil partnership dissolution
The following fees apply:
- £55 – consideration by the Superintendent Registrar of a divorce obtained outside of the British Isles
- £83 – consideration by the Registrar General of a divorce obtained outside of the British Isles
- £55 – consideration by the registration authority of a civil partnership dissolution obtained outside of the British Isles
- £83 – consideration by the Registrar General of a civil partnership dissolution obtained outside of the British Isles
Other fees
The following other fees apply:
- £48 – apply in advance for a passport using your new name
- £66 – to reduce statutory waiting period of 28 days or 70 days for notices of marriage or civil partnership
- £18 – Registrar General's licence for marriage or civil partnership
- £104 – attendance at a registered building for marriage or civil partnership
