Community Infrastructure Levy
The Community Infrastructure Levy allows councils to raise funds from new building projects in their area. The money raised can be used on a wide range of infrastructure, including roads, schools, community facilities and open spaces.
The levy is set locally and will be charged in pounds per square metre of net additional increase in floor space of any given development.
We have suspended the Community Infrastructure Levy that was under development between February 2011 and March 2015. A new Community Infrastructure Levy is now being developed alongside the New Local Plan for Thurrock.
Until a new Community Infrastructure Levy is prepared, developer contributions will be sought in accordance with the current Core Strategy Local Plan – policy PMD16: Developer Contributions.
