Disability sports and fitness
Team GB's success at the Paralympic Games has generated more interest in disability sport than ever before. Here are some options for getting involved locally:
Organisation | What's on offer |
---|---|
Grangewaters outdoor education centre | Grangewaters has a 25-acre watersports lake set within a 70-acre site, where a wide range of challenging, creative, educational outdoor activities, courses and programmes are on offer. Facilities have been made accessible to all throughout. Staff are on hand to help individuals meet personal challenges, ranging from tough physical sport to leisurely enjoyment of facilities. Groups are also welcomed, regardless of disability or special needs. |
Alliance Activity | Alliance Activity is a national charity that enables organisations to support disabled people to be, and stay, active for life. |
Thurrock WADERS | Water Assisted Disabled Exercise and Rehabilitation Scheme (WADERS) offers exercise in water for people with a physical impairment. It is an opportunity to maintain or improve muscle strength, joint flexibility and general fitness levels. |
