Our vision
At the Short Break and Outreach Service, our aim is to create an environment for our children and young people where they are acknowledged, enabled and empowered. Each child and young person’s voice being heard and their needs being met is paramount to us.
We strive to empower our families to seek help, support and guidance in the knowledge that we listen, empathise and care.
We encourage and support children and young people to develop physically, emotionally and socially through play. All of the inclusive activities encourage the development of social, functional and communication skills. Our environment is open, honest and transparent in which the individual, irrespective of need, race, ethnicity or gender feels they are supported and valued as a member of our community.
In our view, in the simplest form, all children and young people need a box to stand on to see over the fence. Our job as professionals is to ensure that we empower them to find what size box they need, how wide it needs to be and what colour suits them. As a service we pride ourselves on allowing children and young people to pave their own way, embracing their individuality and uniqueness.
We cheer on the development of each individual at their own pace and recognise even small victories are still victories.
Instead of seeing challenges, we see possibilities. By focusing on possibilities, there are a lot more opportunities for our children and young people..
