Underage sales of cigarettes and tobacco
It is illegal for any person to sell cigarettes or tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18.
Cigarettes must be sold in their original packaging.
It is illegal to sell cigarettes from a vending machine.
Businesses that sell cigarettes or tobacco products must display the following warning notice in a prominent position – for example, at the counter. It must be A3 in size and have lettering no smaller than 36mm high. The maximum fine for failure to display this notice is £1,000.
