Ofsted inspections
Ofsted had no responsibility for inspecting the provision of home education. When they inspect a local authority, however, they review how the local authority carries out its duties in respect of vulnerable children.
Children who are in elective home education are not automatically considered to be vulnerable, but some children do fall into this category.
Ofsted will look at how local authorities identify children who are not receiving suitable education and what steps they take to address that.
