Overview
You can get advice and support if you are concerned your child has a difficulty with:
- listening and attending
- understanding what is being said
- saying words and putting them in sentences
- using correct sounds in words
- getting along with others
Depending on the age of your child, your first point of contact could be:
- your health visitor
- NHS children's speech and language therapy service
- your pre-school or nursery special educational needs co-ordinator (SENCO)
- your school inclusion manager or SENCO
Speech and Language UK
Speech and Language UK is a national organisation that gives parents and carers information to help them understand and support their child's speech and language development.
This includes:
- a guide to the skills children develop between birth and 17 years
- concerns to look out for
- where to go for help
- books, booklets and posters
