Taxi vehicle testing

All taxi vehicles must:

• have a valid MOT test certificate
• pass a compliance test at issue and renewal of licence
• pass mid-licence inspection tests

This applies both to hackney carriages and private hire vehicles.

Vehicles must pass an MOT test and compliance check before a new licence can be issued or an existing licence can be renewed.
