National Concessionary Bus Pass

The National Concessionary Bus Pass scheme gives disabled and elderly people free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England

For journeys within Thurrock or that start in Thurrock you can use your pass from:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am to midnight
  • weekends and bank holidays all day

Outside Thurrock the national scheme covers off-peak travel from Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 11pm, and all day at weekends and bank holidays.

Pass holders who have a disability and are under the age of 5 can travel for free anywhere in England if accompanied by a paying adult.

Other benefits

A companion entitlement is available for disabled bus pass holders. You must prove that you are eligible for this concession. Companions can travel for free on journeys that are within the combined area of Thurrock, Essex and Southend, but must pay a fare for journeys that go outside of this area.

Other areas around the UK may offer different additional services for their own residents. You probably won't be entitled to them, but it can be worth checking. You should contact the council for the area in which you intend travelling.

Go to applying for a bus pass to apply for your bus pass online, or to download a companion bus pass form.
